Alright so I've been dancing around this idea for a while. But I ain't looked into it too much. But i have the money put back now to do this swap.So what would be the pro's and con's of swapping my tired 2.9 with a 4bt Cummins. Weight is not going to be a problem Ive done a solid front axle swap already so it'll hold up. But any opinions would be great!

While that would be a good engine, a 4d55 or 4d56 would be a better choice, but it depends on your needs/wants...

I'm think I'm gonna go with the 4bt. I'm pretty mechanicly inclined but diesels are a differant ball game for me.what would be my options for transmission/t-case I know I gotta get the ford adapter plate

Ford, GM, Chrysler, or SAE depends which plate you get and are wiling to spend. GM for few hundred or custom over $1000.

You need to figure out what your goal is on road, off road, mud truck, racing, towing pick a trans that suits your needs.

depends on what you can dig up and budget.

ford adapter will allow about any ford trans with sbf compatibility.

stockish power levels??

more street use i assume...i would only consider a 4bt for fuel economy and ok power alone.

for a truck that only sees trail work...no fawking way i would want a clattering ass nasty diesel.
