Got myself an 85 bronco ii

Saw It in person for the first time a week ago, tested the 4x4 checked for rust and all that.

Fired right up, i was sold. I drove It 40 miles or so home with no issues, got up to 65 no problem.

The Bronco -

2.8L v6 - with factory feedback carb
*58,000 - assuming 158
Factory 5 speed
The rest I’m not 100 sure on, someone took good care of this at some point and stopped.

3in body lift and 3 in suspension lift
Running 31in tires atm
10 total rough country cylinders, 6 up front 3 per wheel, and 4 in the back.

Looking to start with a duraskpark conversion, my butterfly will not reopen once It closes so i have that wired open as of now.

I have found multiple wire connections laying around unplugged and i have no idea what is what, maybe someone will be able to help with that.

Any suggestions on things to check on these bad boys when you buy them would be appreciated.

Ryan

* photos can’t upload will work on that now.

Also there is a fuse box like deal on the drivers side of the engine green wire in and out that is melted up badly. Not sure what it’s to. Also on passenger side there’s a round metal coffee lookin can that I’m not sure what It is.

I'm not good with electrical, but pics would help.
I believe that you can paste pics directly from your computer as long as they aren't too big. If you make them about 1200 by 800 they should load fine. Most of my phone pics are too big, but if I go into paint and resize them to about 25% they work.

First one looks like a resistor. The one I'm thinking of reduces voltage to the coil during engine running. It is bypassed for starting.
Second one I think is for emissions. It [charcoal canister] collects gas vapor and returns it to the tank.
Third I don't know.
There is a tech library at the top of every page. B2C sister site; "The Ranger Station" has a very good tech section with electrical diagrams.

Thanks for the response, i appreciate all the input. I cut out the resistor, probably shouldn’t have. I assumed It was an in line fuse, and should have checked voltage before cutting. I’m sure i can splice It in. At this point I’m ok with fixing the wiring, i kind of enjoy that part (strangely) but today i had a random overheat insident that I’m going to post a new page about. Can’t find anything specifically like It, again all advice and opinions are appreciated

The resistor [if that is what it was] was toasted anyway.

10-4, will grab one from the store. Why would It be melted the way it is? Would It be from heat it’s creating or from potentially being on a hot engine ?
