Hey guys we have a 1984 Bronco 2 4x4. We found a cheap 99 Explorer 4.0L V6 auto 4x4 truck for sale and want to know if we can take the 99 explorer trans, engine, computer, transfer case and put it in our 84 B2? what all do we need to do it?
Thanks
Trav

It should be possible. It probably won't even resemble easy. That's crossing the OBD2 barrier. I didn't think the dash swapped that far out.

all we really wanted was to get an automatic and a 4.0L swap all in one. Should we look for a different year exploder.
We found a 91 exploder recently but was hoping to fix it and give it to my other brother.

After about 94, the "X" gets to be a <real> PITA to swap over... PATS, for one thing (97 and up), more "integrated" wiring, MUCH more user UN-friendly.

ok so cross that off then. I guess I will have to do one of these:
Find an auto trans for our B2
find an exploder or ranger 91-94
or keep our B2 the way it is.

What vehicles have the same auto trans as our 84 B2 other then B2s and rangers? we really need an auto more then standard.
