Just purchased a 1990 Bronco II 2WD with a 2.9L. Just crawled under and found the rubber rear brake hose chafing against the driver's side hard brake hydraulic line. The rubber hose appears to be way too long, but it looks exactly like every picture I was able to find online. Is this just a simple zip tie repair or something more serious?

If it has chafed off enough of the outer layer or rubber? It'll have to be replaced quick anyway. Once it gets to the nylon material its a quick demise.

Could be just mounted incorrectly or the mount could be bent on the frame putting it to close to the other line. Best to replace it and use common sense. Have any photos of the area to share? One of us might be able to compare it with ours for routing the line(s)

To answer your question, zip ties work great for keeping the brake lines out of harms way.

Why is the rear brake hose so long anyway? it looks to be about 18 inches..only needs to be about 12 inches
