Hello Guys,
I need you for questions about my 1987 Bronco II XLT automatic transmission.
So I'll try to explain you the problem:
I bought this vehicule last in feb 2016, when came back home the transmission suddenly decluth and I stoped immediately on the side of the road, so I checked under the car and I found an huge oil leak... I also noticed when opening the motor's hood that the cooling fan was broken and out of his location. The tow truck came to bring the Bronco back home. my girlfriend's father keep the vehicule for now. The good new is that we put oil in the transmission and still works great the gears are going well, but the oil is leaking very quickly.
So in order to understand the reason of this oil leak, we removed the transmission and we saw that the output seal was out.
The problem came because the transmission radiator water/oil was not appropriate for this transmission and was not connected! so the oil was not cooled and with the high pressure the seal blow.
I checked on rockauto to find a new seal, new radiator, and I also need a new fan.
the problem is that when you chose bronco II 1987 automatic transmission, there are a lot of different models for the same year! Can you please show me the right model that will fit my Bronco II.
It would be really nice if you can enlighten me and tell me what's the right:
1)output transmission seal
2)automatic transmission radiator wate/oil
3)cooling fan
I lived in France and the Bronco II is a very exclusive here, so I need your help.
many thanks bye

Not quite sure what info you are looking for?

What is automatic transmission radiator wate/Oil?

If you have a automatic transmission oil cooler built into your radiator it is a separate chamber in the radiator and does not mix with the engine coolant but is part of the engine coolant radiator. Are there lines running from the Automatic transmission to the engine radiator?

Not sure what seal you are looking at/for? Do you need the whole fan assemble? Can you post any photo's of what you are needing

Also can you confirm that you have the A4LD automatic transmission and if possible what rear end gear differential you have?

Hello Dennis and thank you for your reply.:icon_thumby:

I ask my girlfriend father more informations concerning the automatic radiator and I will tell you later.

Concerning the fan, you will see what I'm talking about in attached picture.
Concerning the seal, you will also see in attached picture.

And yes I confirm you that it is a A4LD transmission.

have a good evening

Checked with my automatic transmission guy and yes that is a front pump seal. So that National 2658V Fluid Pump Seal that I listed above should do the trick. At $6.75 plus shipping you should be in good shape. Hope this helped.

Does your Bronco II have air conditioning? It makes a difference on which radiator you get with or with out AC.

Hello guys,
I have broken my 1994 Ford Explorer motor today and I was asking myself to remove the A4LD of my explorer in case I can't repair my actual 1987 Bronco II transmission.. So Please let me Know if that's a good idea or not? Will a 1994 A4LD transmission Will fit a 1987 bronco II with no modification?
Please let me know..
Many thanks

Yes it fit!

Hello guys,
So I decide to put the explorer's transmission on my bronco, there are some little modifications when you change as the gear selector of the bronco II is on the floor and the selector of the explorer is on steering.. furthermore need to keep the transfer case of the bronco II. So I now have an explorer transmission with bronco II transfer case. It looks ok and transmission is shifting well.
I also decide to remove my explorer fan in order to put on the bronco but the viscous fan drive of the explorer screw in the wrong direction! Please let me know where I can find a viscous fan drive of 1987 bronco II? I just need the part to screw.

And bronco graveyard, I just send this message: "Hello, I don't know if you make this part, but I'm looking for a viscous fan drive, the part to screw is broken on mine and my fan is not working anymore, II already try to screw the my 1994 Ford Explorer viscous fan drive but it is not good because it is screwing in the wrong side. If you have this part (for ford bronco II 1987) please give me the reference and I will order. Many thanks and regards. Mathew"

Thanks,

You need to know its not a "Viscous" fan drive. Its called a fan clutch and your local auto parts will have them.

Still would help to actually have the proper name for the part.
