My credo
Do what you can with what you have where you are
The connector is located on the right side (passenger's) side of the firewall near the strut tower. The operation procedure is listed in section 6-2 under EEC-IV system trouble codes. in the Haynes Ford Ranger & Bronco II Automotive Repair Manual 1983-1992 The book is 36070 (1026)

Thank you for your reply. I located a box in the area suggested but ( I know this sounds dumb) can't figure out how to open it if it opens, or how it plugs in without breaking the box that says EEC test. Any suggestions?

There should be a cover that the connectors clip into.
