I've been doing a ton of research on driveshafts when swapping in the 8.8. A few things I've learned:
  • There are 3 driveshafts that came on the Bronco II's - GKN, Double Cardan (Spicer), and Single U-joint
  • GKN's are horrible, double Cardan is better, single u-joint is _________?
  • Pinion angle is different depending on being double Cardan or single u-joint.
  • Front explorer driveshafts can be used on the rear of the bronco ii with some mods.
  • I can use a 1330 to 1310 u-joint to connect the current driveshaft to the 8.8 using the flange adaptor that I got with the 8.8 - if the length is right.
What I haven't figured out is if the single u-joint is any good whatsoever? I wouldn't be worried, except a few forums I've seen say that the double Cardan is the only good one because how short the driveshaft is.

I haven't welded on the new perches to the 8.8, and I need to figure out what driveshaft I'm going to be using first.

I have a 4 inch lift and FM146 if that helps. Thanks

i have the same setup but with a 6 inch lift. i dont know about the other 2 drive shafts but i am using the double cardan out of the front of a 93 explorer. just had a local shop make it the correct length for me and balance it. i love it and works really good.
