Actually it's similarity to the Explorer of old is what drew us to it. Body on frame, solid rear axle longitudinal powertrain. Much more appealing than the awkward minivan the Explorer has devolved into. A 2dr is worthless for us as a family car, not interested.I'd rather have a 2 door Bronco LOL...that 4 door thing ain't a Bronco, just a squared off version of an Explorer. Why is it automakers bring back vehicle names but they grow extra sets of doors.
The 4 door Bronco looks quite a bit wider than a 1st Gen...or rather any version of an actual compact Ranger from 1983-2011. Looks to be about a foot shorter than the Ranger parked next to it in a 4 door configuration, bet the 2 door is more a long the lines of the original Bronco size from the 60's except probably wider.
And if you note the spare on the Bronco (where they measure the official oal to) is about even with the rear bumper on the ranger (where Ford measured its oal to)
Basically the same wheelbase and oal as a std cab longbed Ranger but a little wider which is a non issue, a little more elbow room than a first Gen won't hurt anybody.
