Looking at a Walker 18397 muffler which shows up as an OEM replacement. How quite is it? Looking to replace the muffler installed for me 2 years ago by Midas that is not quite which they said was the OEM replacement. I would like to not be able to hear the BII as I go down the interstate. I want to look at the tach to make sure it is running. Is this the muffler for me?

Sorry. I have no idea but>I am with you on the noise. I want to replace the one mine came with when I bought it used. It is terrible. Not sure what kind it is. Saw some comments on a Walker YouTube promo. People complaining they were rusted out in 6 months.

I have one on my 1990 Bronco ii and its actually really quiet. It not gonna get rid of all the noise but it does muffle the sound quite nice. The exhaust also has a nice burble to it also. Hope this helps

Thanks, that is the kind of advise I was looking for. Since I did not buy my 1990 BII new I really don't know how quite it should be, I just know I want it quitter than it is now. I think I will go ahead and get one today. I have a $10 off coupon from O'reillys which means I can get it for like $33 plus I get 10 percent off for being retired Military.

Ok I ordered the Walker 18397 muffler yesterday from O'reilly's auto parts. It was $43.99 but I had $10 off rewards coupon plus my military discount so I was out the door for $32.40. So the guys at Midas are going to install it for me instead of replacing the muffler I bought from them 18 months ago as they even think it is louder than normal. Will report back after installation.

Yes the 18397 Walker muffler is very quite. The guys at Midas installed it for me today. They had told me they would replace their muffler under warranty and charge me $40 to install it but had agreed that if I brought in a Walker 18397 they would only charge the $40. What a difference it is like night and day. It was so quite compared to their muffler that they had installed a couple of ago that they did not charge me at all. Out the door for $0. Love the new muffler.

Dennis, this is good to hear. I have no way of knowing if my 88 muffler is original sound or just irritatingly old noise. Would like to replace when time comes. Appreciate the info and follow up. Thanks!
