Did it all myself but did take 2 years to get it all done, fixed all rust by cutting and welding in new pieces where needed, frame, axles, all steel pieces cleaned rust free then coated with por15 used 2 gallons, all new brake system with nicopp brake lines, stainless steel fuel line, used a asphalt undercoating on all panels on the body on the inside of them, and on the under floor, completely took out all interior and fixed all that was needed, used the old foam board that was for old headliner cleaned it and fixed it and recovered it with fleece, replaced the rear quarters and pass door plus both front fenders, used the eastwood interstate black single stage urethane 4 coats, over sandable primer over epoxy primer, then did the wet sand and buff all body panels, new wheels, new 235/75r15 tires, the engine is bored .040 over and is the original 2.8 v-6 with duraspark conversion, with a 302 carb on it, I use this to pull a camper with , the camper weighs approx 1,500 pounds and does just fine, it has a 4 speed manual transmission and pulls the camper up hill in 4th gear just fine, used raptor liner on the bottom of the body to prevent rock chips, i wanted to keep it close to looking original as possible with a few upgrades. Bought it for 50.00 in 2006 it did not run and only had 4th gear.. Last upgrade was the tail lights.

Thanks, JerryC it was fun for sure, I think the easiest part was laying on my back using a rust scaler and taking all the rust off of the frame and under floor, even though that took a little over a month by itself, 2 hours a day till done..

Thanks Dennis, this is the first time I went this far into restoring a vehicle, it is my only vehicle so it is a daily driver, so I spent alot of time on just rust proofing it really well, since it will see salt and snow. Even went as far as when I changed the front coil buckets I used silicone in the v shape that faces the frame, so that will not ever rust. Same with the rear shock mounts. Got some led lights now using the Phillips Ultinon LED red, amber and white, have to say they are bright for sure. Just use the lens color light, red gets red and so on. Got those from rockauto. Then use a Novita EL12 Heavy duty flasher and all works great. The EL12 is for use with either led or incandescent bulbs or a mix of.

So clean! Great work and I'm officially jealous.

I love the panel guards on the fenders and lower panels. Can you tell me how you did that?

Looks like he used black raptor liner (spray on bed liner) on the bottom of the body to prevent rock chips.
Spray on kits cost around $200, really good stuff. Wear a mask!

Great, now my brains going wild with ideas for raptor.

In his photos though, the panel guards have thickness which makes me think he attached something. I haven't seen that on a BII before.

@ bronco joe, i used the raptor liner and sprayed it on with a harbor freight gun , i drilled the hole on the gun out to 1/8 then chamfered the inside so the gun would not leak, i taped off the separation line from the paint to the raptor liner, i did the bottom with 3 coats and towards the top with a lighter 2 coats so not to have the thick line in between the paint and raptor liner. using the harbor freight purple gun as they call it i used 35 psi so as to get a fine pattern verses the thick chunky pattern. i used 1 and 1/2 bottles of the black raptor liner with hardner.

@ JerryC i had the ones in the pic they are a heavy duty shock from Gabriel but they were too stiff, so i got some rancho adjustable shocks, set them on number 3 position and that works fine now pulling the camper, but must be on position one without camper.

Thanks @dave84b2 for the details. Do you have a photo of the b2 you can post before you did the new paint and raptor? Just curious....

@bronco joe , In the first picture you will see a bronco II to the right of the blue one that was mine when I bought it, it was the dark blue with the light blue in the middle of the door, the blue one with the white tire carrier was my dads bronco II he bought, in the bottom of the first picture you can see mine the dark blue with the light blue stripe on it on the other side of my dads , the only picture I have when I first bought it, I did not feel it was photo worthy then,. 2nd pic, then I did a fast repair to the body and painted it with the tsc enamel in a blue and silver, July 27, 2008 is the date,. the 3rd pic it is black, again just did a fast repair of the body and painted with the tsc black enamel the tractor and implement paint to keep it looking half ok,. that was in Sept of 2010,. from the 4th pic to the last one here is what it looked like before I spent the 2 years off frame restore, I had way more time to do it right this time, and a bit more money, and I wanted it too last for more then just 2 years this time.. so I went a bit overboard on it, but I did touch every bolt, screw and wire on it so I know it now for sure,. I have a lot of pictures of the whole process, was thinking of putting a slideshow on youtube of it but have not decided yet. I did put my camper on youtube in a slideshow of it's rebuild.

@dave84b2 Thanks for the blast to the past photos...I think it's interesting to see the changes.

I bought my Eddie Bauer bii maybe 10 years ago and the body was in really good shape. I rebuilt the motor because it was a mess but that's all I've done to it in that time.

Now it's on my brain though and is going to become my next project after I finish building a new deck on the house. Thankfully, I don't think my rust on mine is as bad as it was on yours except for the rear hatch area where it leaks when it rains. The hood and roof are the other trouble areas.

My original plans for keeping it stock are changing now and I'm doing my research on what I want to do with it. Lots of possibilities and this Tuesday I'm meeting a new friend who does body work who is going to look at it. First things first is fix the rust and leaks and finally put on the rear hatch with the pop up window that's been sitting in my garage for way too many years now.

@ bronco joe, ok, yeah when I got mine it was abused and pretty rusty, and when I did get it running i only drove it in the winter back then so it rusted pretty good, I paid 50 bucks for it, so putting money into it no biggie, see the plan is since I graduated in 1984 and it is a 1984, to still be driving it when I am age 84,. bought it in 2006, and it is the only vehicle I drive, and use it to pull the camper around. There is a lot of options to do on them for sure. Mine had more rust then what you seen in those pictures, did a lot of welding in galvanized in the floor, and in the rear around the bottom of the hatch. I will put a slideshow video on youtube of the start to finish of it, might be four 20 minute videos though. Planning on that tonight maybe to help others out.
