BLACK WIRE ORANGE STRIPE >>> NO 12V POWER NOTHING >>> SOLVED
The Great BRONCO 2 MISERY ... SOLVED
After doing Extensive Connector search to find the SHORT ..... i looked at fuse box #8 Courtesy, Dome, Cargo Lamps Buzzer.
FUSE NOT BLOWN >>> BUT HAD DEAD SHORT between Heavy Black and Orange on the Alternator + Remove Wire from the back of ALTERNATOR
and use test light ... connect clip lead to alternator wire you took OFF. Connect sharp probe end to POSITIVE ... IF light comes ON ... you have Short.
I Spent many hours figuring out where the short was .... TURNS out ALL BRONCOS with a SCREW in the DOME LIGHT that screws into the POSITIVE wire
is the Problem .... IF unscrew the DOME LIGHT take it off ... AFTER RETEST ALTERNATOR WIRE TO SEE IF SHORT GOES AWAY...
you will see a RUBBER CONNECTOR with the POSITIVE wire connected to the ROOF FRAME.
it is hooked in ... use screw driver under the wires side and PRY it OUT.
The ENGINEERS at FORD DID NOT INSULATE THE SIDES of it and slowly vibrates over and SHORTS OUT SYSTEM. You can Tape up and REINSTALL.
WHEN it shorts it can FRY some wires ... repair them. THE BLACK AND ORANGE STRIP WIRE has a CONNECTOR ON the Diver side FENDER WALL
by the WASHER BOTTLE ... PULL IT OUT CLEAN OR REPLACE ... or Often you will not have power til you do.
Many BRONCOS went to the wrecking yard or sold Cheap because of this Mistake.... Thank You Ford
