Rough idle on 1989 bronco ii 2.9

She idles rough in drive, a lot less rough in neutral, occasionally when accelerating from a stop it feels like it’s choking itself out and when I push the pedal further down it breaks though that choke.

IMHO, before you replace anything make sure there are no vacuum leaks. There's going to be lots of old hard and probably cracked rubber hoses and fittings. Then Look at the grounds, make sure they are all there and have good connections. After that you can start looking at specific issues.

If you want my first guess for the parts cannon, replace the IAC. Or clean it.
