I did buy a new step stool for working on this rig. With a 6 inch lift the tops of the fenders were at my armpits. This stool is gonna get some use...

Hell I'm 6'1"...

I'm just getting too old to be on a milk crate. This thing is sturdy and haven't had it tip yet. It's also adjustable... I seriously like this thing.

I’ve been using a Gorilla step! About the same height as what you have and about a foot longer! Really since I change my front bumper, don’t need a step no more! I can step up on it have plenty of room for my feet and can get to anything in the engine bay! And I have enough ground clearance that have no need for a jack except to change tires and wheel’s! Another reason why I love my B2!

I keep inching closer on the fuel system overhaul.

Old sending unit might have been save-able but it looked so rough... I opted for new.

I modified the new sender for a high pressure in tank pump... shorten pump outlet tube by 3/4 inch and had to cut the support to accept the new filter.

New fuel tank ready to go in. I was going to cut an access panel out of the rear floor today but it just won't stop raining.

Something about cutting a big ass hole in the floor of my relativly clean Bronco II just doesn't set well in my mind. But I've convinced myself that the quality of today's aftermarket fuel pumps leave them fairly unpredictable. The fuel pump access panel I'm about to cut out weighs dropping the tank to replace the pump in the future.

What are you using to cover said big ass hole to match the shape of the floor? I’m thinking of doing the same but now realize I should have cut an oversized piece out of one of the rigs I sent to scrap.

I had to replace the sending unit/pump on my 89' when I got it.....it had over 1/2 a tank of fuel according to my guess so I just did some measuring and layout for an access panel. I used the piece I cut out as the door and riveted some plain metal to the underside to keep the door from falling thru, a small hinge and a dzus fastner makes a re-usable access hole. A bit of 1/8" window seal makes it fit nice and snug.

Installed a rebuilt power steering pump this AM (bought from Rock Auto-Cardon rebuild), the old one was leaking badly.

I'm using a couple pieces of flat steel 1/4-20 bolts and U-nuts to make removable cross braces. Then I'll just put what I cut out back on the braces with 1/4-20 bolts U-nuts. Probably use a bit of butyl tape to seal the edges.... then roll the vinyl floor back over it. I was going to cut it this morning but got roped in another direction. I hope to get it cut this evening when it cools down a bit.

Started the rework of my fuel system lines...

I'm totally simplifying things. Out with all the old and it will be a pump and a filter.

Once I cut this hole I believe I could change the pump in 30 minutes with a Phillips and flat blade screwdrivers and a decent sized rock.

The headlights were cloudy and dull. It was barely safe to drive at night. I considered oil lamps to improve visibility, but opted instead for two new headlights, with new chrome trime pieces to replace the broken ones.
Jenette came with these spotlights, so I wired them up last weekend. Now I can see at night!

Glued new material onto my old headliner. I jad heard on Fractured Rooster's Youtube vid that 1989 headliners were ABS plastic. Well mine ain't.
It's several layers of fiberglass molded and bonded together. I didnt remove the old foam because there was nothing hard underneath it. I just used a lot of glue, attached cotton batting (quilt insulation) and this rad piece of cloth from JoAnn. It was the last piece they will ever have in this pattern, and it was the right size!

More images if the process for those who might want to do their own.
Pro tip: cut the holes out for your sin visors BEFORE installing the headliner.

So... I did the unthinkable to me. It brought a tear to my eye to cut this big ass hole in my clean Bronco II. But it's done and fuel pump change should take minutes.
