i thought factory is metal to metal but i wanted to make sure, thanks allan...actually its really easy to rebuild oil pumps from these motors. the only reason they wear out is the get grooves in the two matting surfaces where the pump itself turns. machine those grooves out and your good to go
im rebuilding my 2.9 and reusing my old oil pump that i rebuilt..i baught a complete felpro engine gasket set but it does not have a oil pump to block mounting gasket..i work at oreillys and have searched everywhere for a gasket and cannot come up with one. my last resort is to check the ford...
im putting a 2.9 back together with the original bearings and im having issues with deck height...my pistons are out of the whole .022" at tdc.
anyone have any ideas? what should factory deck height be with this block?
btw i know nothign about this motor and dont have the original head gaskets...
hey guys i just bought an 85 BII for 300$ haha its a good deal the body is in great shape and i want to convert my 90 front end with 85 front fenders and grille..has anyone tried this yet? how does everything fit?
thanks
what happened wa si was driving down teh road and the distributor hold down loosened up(from hardcore wheeling) to the point were the dizzy actually poped out when i was driving and retarded it a shit ton and started running on 5 cylinders lol.. when that happened im guessing i jumped a gear on...
well i tried and tried and then gave up, i set it at 5 and maxed out the dizzy which put it at 12* advance and left the spout unplugged....it actually runs much better at 12* and the spout disconnected than it did at 0 with it plugged in..more power and plugs dont foul. its not running hot...
i found the spout..thanks :)
now for the dizzy.... i tired timing it with the rotor pointing at 5 and it runs but i dont have enought movement of the dizzy to correct it... i have way too much advance its running at 1,500 rpms and pinging at higher rpms..
ive tried a few more times to pull it...
excuse my terrible typing my hands r full of grease lol..please
also i still cant find the spout connector...anyone ever find theirs inside the wire loom in teh harness? thats where i will be looking next....
ok so i took my dizzy out and i have spend 2 freaking hours now trying to get it back in with teh rotor at #1................its going in tooo hard. it doesnt seem to line up and slide all the way in unless its pointed at #5 it seems to be 180 off which i dont want.. ive tried turnign the oil...
also.. i found a picture of something that looks like a crankshaft position sensor bolted above the balancer...is my 2.9 supossed to have that also?? because i only have two empty bolt holes there
i cant seem to find the timing mark on the block in a 90 BII 2.9 i see the marks on the pulley but not the block, ive cleaned it off with a wire wheel and still cant see anything... im finishing my truck tomorrow so i NEEd help and pictures would be great because i just CANT find teh damn thing...
well i just checked the oil cap and it looks like i was wrong there is snut under the cap so im sure its a cracked head
does anyone have a head or set of heads for cheap?
how much should i expect to pay for a 2.9 head at a junkyard?
so tomarow ill check cooling system pressure, compression on all cylinders, thermostat housing temp..
question....if i found oil and copperseal in the old radiator could the heatercore be plugged?
i have a feeling the cheap oreilly thermostat i put in is not working right but does anyone think it could be a head issue or what?
any info or 2cent would be awesome!
