the shift on the fly truely is nice, and i enjoyed it while it was on my truck...
...until my auto hubs exploded one night while i was driving home in the ice in 4wd. i was climbing the hill to my apartment when one hub failed. that threw me into 2wd and the sudden transfer of power to the rear...
glad you got it working.
im sure you know this already, but im going to tell you anyway: youve been extremely lucky with your BII hubs. auto hubs are very weak and extremely unreliable. personally, i would replace them with manual hubs before they leave you stuck and stranded. just my .02...
did you check BOTH axles to see if only one axle was spinning with the hubs/wheels on? if one hub is bad, the good hub will lock, stopping that axle, but allowing the other axle and front driveline to continue turning (open differential).
if at any time BOTH front axles stop turning while the...
under most cases the change isnt big enough that you would notice. its enough that if your having spark knock problems, it could reduce or eliminate them.
anything from the weak 3.27's to the rare 4.10's. there is a 3.08 ratio available too, but i dont think those went into 4x4's...at least ive never seen any.
replace the pig and try not to high center it on any more rocks. a junkyard would be your best bet for a new diff....and you might as well grab a new driveline while your there. make sure you get a pig with the same gear ratio as you have now.

you could fab up lift shackles...but if it were me, i would rip the saggy leaf springs out and make a more stout pack that wont sag and will give a better feel on-road. but thats just me.
the axle shaft problem is common on half-circle clip u-joint axles...especially when getting on the gas...
like the direct TV commercials where they take a scene from an old movie and the characters say "all i really want is to watch my direct tv".:icon_rofl:
