    All interior lights not working

Usually, I try to divide the system in half, find which half the short is in and then do the same with that half. Most cases it winds up being from a wire rubbing through or a shoddy previous repair, i.ie wires just twisted and taped together, poor body work, etc. Look for chafing and/or green...

1990 Bronco II Driveway Restoration, video series.

I have been working on cleaning up the door latches as it was something 'simple and easy' to do while the great sewer line excavation was going on. Finally got the latches form both sides cleaned up today and went to start reassembly and hit a wall thanks to 'never fits' Dorman'. Several of the...

Mystery spring in driver's side door latch. (1990 w/power locks)

Here is where the mystery spring goes. Had to full the passenger side latch to figure it out.

Mystery spring in driver's side door latch. (1990 w/power locks)

Thanks. It seemed like a pretty stupid 'feature' to me. I have seen cars where you had to hold the exterior door handle up while closing the door or it would not lock but not an 'auto-lock'. I'll take apart the passenger side this weekend and try to discover where the mystery spring goes.

Mystery spring in driver's side door latch. (1990 w/power locks)

I bent a new hook on the end of the spring and then connected the other end to the top hole. After looking at all the places the spring could reach the only place it could really hook was the lever in the close up. It did seem to hook there fine. What was odd is that without the spring in place...

Mystery spring in driver's side door latch. (1990 w/power locks)

Pulled the driver's side door latch out to clean off decades of grease/dirt cement. I found a small loose spring inside which I'm guessing I broke when cleaning. I 'think' it connects to the exterior door handle lever inside (close up pic of lever inside) and then hooks to the top coming out...

The myth of the 1990 BII 4.0L engine option...

I recently got the factory manuals for my 1990 BII. I was surprised that Ford considered the Aerostar minivan to be on the same platform as the Ranger and BII. It also seems that the 4.0L and 4WD were options for the Aerostar in 1990. Perhaps there was a plan to also offer the 4.0L on the BII...

1990 Bronco II Driveway Restoration, video series.

"Now for the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say. This trench is beside the driveway where the BII was when the above video was taken. I knew this had to be dug up before I bought the truck. The cost of this trench and the expected repairs would have covered the cost of painting and...

1990 Bronco II Driveway Restoration, video series.

1990 Bronco II Driveway Restoration #0: Taking Stock, making a list and planning the work. I found a nice 1990 Ford Bronco II for sale from the original owner. It had a lot of miles on it but was very well-maintained. It has 313,000 miles on the clock but starts right up, drives fine and...

Reconditioning the rear side window trim?

Reconditioning the side rear window trim on my 90 BII. I'm planning a bit ahead in my project thinking of ways to recoat/spruce up the side rear window trim. Mine is solid but showing its age. It seems to be a hard plastic with a lot of plasticizers added to make it somewhat pliable. (Sort of...

Bronco II / Ranger clutch bleeding training videos

Stumbled on these videos on YouTube today. They look to be ripped from VHS, the image quality is not superb, but the content is. Lots of tips for getting rid of trapped air in the clutch hydraulic lines. Part 1: Part 2:

Looking for a good clutch master cylinder reservoir and brake master cylinder reservoir for a 1990 BII.

Looking for a good clutch master cylinder reservoir and brake master cylinder reservoir for a 1990 BII. Mine has the incorrect one for clutch that is impossible to get to and open. The one for the brake is pretty sad looking too. Only have one 'u pull it' junk yard left around here. Will check...

Clutch position. Too close to brake?

Well, I do have a few family members who are clowns, literal clowns that is the type who wear such footwear. I swear I was not wearing their shoes though :) Got to thinking last night about a 1996 Escort wagon I had which had a manual transmission. The pedals were close enough that if I was...

Clutch position. Too close to brake?

It is a factory manual, no doubt. Bought from original owner I have the window sticker. I think I understand what you are meaning about the brake pedal. Sometimes on autos the brake pedal is wider. That way if your use to driving a stick you can slam on the brakes while trying to change gears :)...

Clutch position. Too close to brake?

When driving by new BII home it seemed like the clutch pedal was uncomfortably close to the brake pedal. I've owned a few Rangers of this era that were manuals and don't remember the pedal feeling so cramped. My 2011 Ranger is an auto so I don't know if the newer Rangers are just as cramped. (I...

    My first Bronco II, 1990

Looking at the title it was registered February 1990 so I would have guessed no. Freezing rain today, work closed, good thing I about busted my a$$ multiple times in the 50' out to the truck, so had to go shut truck off which I had started to melt the ice off. Managed to ease up driveway to the...

    My first Bronco II, 1990

Picked up my first Bronco II today, a 1990. Purchased from the original owner. It has an incredible 313,000 miles on the clock. He had the engine gone through about 150K due to some sort of head issue. It has a bit of rust in the typical places. Headliner is a bit loose. Runs like a top. Drive...
