hello all.. I have an 89 bronco II 2wd with a blown motor.. I'm buying a wrecked bronco II 4wd so I can swap in the good motor.. How hard would it be to convert mine to a 4wd, using the parts from the wrecked bronco?.. the trucks are the same year.

fairly bolt on, you will have to swap one of the beam pivot brackets (don't remember which one) then bolt the axle in. It's a whole lot easier on a Bronco II than on a Ranger where it's easier to swap frames...

If you are lucky your BII will have a fake transfer case, if that's the case remove the fake one and install the real one. If you have the same transmission as the donor the drive shafts will be the same length, if yours has the crappy CV style and the donor has U joints, use the U joint shaft...

look to see if the donor has the same gear ratio as your '89, if it does don't worry about the rear axle, if they're different you'll want to swap that too which is relatively simple

The bracket you have to swap out is the bracket for the passenger side beam, it's the cast iron bracket that's riveted to the engine crossmember.

When it comes time to swap over the front axle just knock out the caliper pins and remove the calipers, on a 2wd Bronco2 even the brake hoses are the same length...

Enjoy!
