The Enigne i am looking to do are:
3.0L,4.0L,5.0L or maybe even the 289 or 302??

4.0 is a bolt in swap, cheapest, easiest, most profiting for amount spent
Try to get one from a 90-94 Explorer/Ranger (easiest wiring)

5.0 fuel injected - Next best choice, gonna need complete donor, engine, tranny(4x4), harness computer, motor mounts...

302 and 289 Carb. simplier than 5.0 as you dont need as much wiring...

3.0-Impractical, different bolt patterns on bellhousing, no gain in power...

I put a 4.0 out of a 1994 Explorer in my 1988 Bronco II. I bought the Explorer wrecked for $500 and pulled everything out of it that I needed. It wasn't too bad to do as long as you remembered where everything went. It was definetly worth it. I feel like I am driving an entirely different vehicle now. :taunt:

4.0 is the most cost effective if you plan to drive it on the street and stay 35 in tire and down.

if you want more then that..

latest model you can afford 5.3 or 6.0/6.2 gm. the ford smallblocks are a bit easier to do, but will never match the all around capacity of the 01 newer gm smallblock for even close to the same costs..
