Thanks for the responses guys.
I ended up taking it back.
Went to Nordstroms and got the exact same drive shaft. Same year, length everything. Both flanges intact.
10 minutes, and abra cadabra, drive shaft issues over.
Nordstroms are always about 20 bucks more on their stuff, but by god...
Thanks man.
I'll have to swing by the parts store tomorrow. I don't have the parts because I am replacing the gkn style with the double cardan from the salvage yard.
Replacement driveshaft question. Picture added
had my wife pick up a replacement driveshaft for my 86 bronco II.
Had the gkn, found a double cardan off a 87 at the salvage yard.
I measured the length of the gkn while it was still on mine, asked him to do the same, flange to flange, to make...
86 bronco II auto tranny. Not lifted or anything. I've got the GKN style drive shaft and its on its NOISY way out.
Called the local salvage yard and he tells me he doesn't have a GKN but has a dana for that year.
My question is will the dana be simple replacement? Is is the double cardan...
Auto trans on the floor, 4 wheel drive shifter on the floor as well.
Where can I get the whole shifter assembly, plus the plastic "shroud" or trim piece that fits over the top of both?
I've tried a couple salvage yards with no joy. Searched online @LCM?? carpartswholesale etc. maybe I'm...
I've got a 86 bronco that is in pretty good condition body wise. However it has sat for the past 6 years, and I have a sneaking suspicion it has a cracked head. Looks like some got her hot. It's got a new water pump on it blowing bubbles out the radiator etc etc.
I got it up and running...
I've got the canister type for sure, it was the first thing I replaced when trying to get the beast running.
Yep, that picture is the same filter I have sitting here, there just isn't one on my BII.
Im off today to flush the radiator and sea foam myrtle.
Hey, I'm in SD as well, just on the other side of the big river.
I swear guys, I've looked over and over. Where the frame rail goes from horazontal to about a 22 degree upward pitch, about 2 feet forward of the HP fuel pump, there is a spot with a metal sheild but it isn't even 1/4 as big of...
Thanks, I will go look again, but I swear on my Bronco II that it's not there.
Got her home, still running pretty crappy, must still have some bad gas. But...........every pass up and down my 1/4 mile long driveway, she gets just a little better. I swapped the old oil and filter out and...
Got it guys.
Bad Gas.
Drove it home a half hour ago.
Maybe someone can figure this one.
This is an 86, and I can not for the life of me find the second, in line fuel filter. I found the one you unscrew and replaced it, found the high pressure pump, but I looked EVERYWHERE and can't find...
Thanks guys,
First thing in the morning, I'm gonna go hunting for a pressure pump on the left frame rail.
Something in my plumbing brain is telling me that this has something to do with the fact that after sitting for a few hundred days, I went ahead and started it with that old crappy gas...
To tell you the truth, I don't know for sure. If it does have a second pump, is it to the rear of the fuel filter? I guess what I am going by is that it makes a hrrrrrrm sound for about 2 seconds after I turn the key on, similar to the sound my 91 explorer makes. Now I want to drive into town...
I loved the ranger station to death when I owned my 02 Ranger. I put 146K on it and never once had to take it to a shop for repairs. This seems like an equally "neat" place for these little broncos. I think they are cooler than the 900 Jeeps that troll the streets of this 9000 pop college...
