1988 Bronco II EECIV code 84

Can anyone help ? I'm getting a code 84 exhaust gas recirculation vacuum (EVR) circuit failure on an original 1988 Bronco II 2.9 fuel injected with no EGR valve from the factory ? What should I be looking for ? Thanks.

Somebody may have put an '86 or '87 computer in your '88.

Somebody may have put an '86 or '87 computer in your '88.

I will pull the kick panel and find out. The Bronco runs rich and erratic on start up, but as it warms it seems to run OK. It is not yet drivable though. Thanks..

I looked at the computer today and the part number on it is
E8TF-12A650-U1C.
