So I'm about to pick up an aftermarket 4-bbl intake and 4-bbl Holley carb for my 2.8 , Is there anything I should know about them or is it even worth the time ? I'm getting the whole setup for $100.

That's a lot of fuel to dump into the little 2.8 V6 LOL. For $100 yes, but I wouldn't throw it on a stock RBV engine...now if you throw a 302 V8 in it then that carb would be a great help.

No what i'm getting is the actual 4-bbl intake and a 390 c.f.m holley 4-bbl carb and all necessary parts for the swap. I was just woundering about performance wise ?

I don't think it will do much for a 2.8L V6 LOL. A V8 it would probably boost performance but with the little V6 I somewhat recall on TRS someone trying it and said it didn't help at all just used more fuel.

when I looked into that swap all I found was more fuel use with little power gain, since parts are hard to come by for the 2.8 I didn't do it. I know with that 4bbl if your looking for performance gain you really should add a slightly bigger cam but again hard to come by for a decent price. I decided against it, too much fuel cost for little gains, too much overall cost and abuse on that little motor , decided that once I get the truck all finished I'll look into gathering up stuff for a V8 swap - money better spent IMO

Well I can pick up a hot cam & lifte kit for it all day long for less then a $100 new. I just want to know what the h.p. and tq increase over stock is ? I could care less about m.p.g as it's just a wheeler.

FYI, that 4bbl. Offy manifold is worth it's weight in gold, if you can score it for $100, do it now. With the 390 Holly carb, it's a worthwhile project. This was cutting edge racecar technology back when the european Capris, Mercury over here, were a force to be reckoned with. Cam it up a little and have a blast. There was a time before 4.0's, and it was good.

Hmm, does it make a huge difference in power by doing so?

Nothing but a 302 swap will make a huge difference in power. The 4bbl swap, with a cam, makes the little 2.8 more fun. I like the 2.8 better than the 2.9.
