howdy
need to know where l buy gearbox parts? l have a 1990 bronco ll a 4x2
with 2.9 with a 5 speed. l need a new input shaft and seal but drive shaft does
not have u joints but cv joints

If you don't know what trans already, if that is the factory trans it will either be a FM146 or a M5OD-R1. I recall a list once that showed what was in BIIs, but can't find it. It generally parallels the Ranger and this lists what the rangers have. The pictures at this link will help you identify which.

I believe the 2WD and 4WD BIIs used the same trans and the 2WD just had a fake transfer case to mate up with the drive shaft. The FM146 was used on 88 thru 92 4x4 rangers so if I were taking bets that is probably it.

Knowing which one you can hit google better armed.

Those CV drive shafts are supposed to be weak, but they do run very smooth accelerating. I miss mine, I had to replace it and only could get a u-joint one and at low speed, first and second gear feel a slight vibration due to the steep joint angles. Outside that the u-joint shaft is totally fine.
