Its genuinely uncommon. Most will recommend a 4.0 swap. I'm sure it can be done, however. You will likely have to fabricate most everything for exhaust, turbo intercooler piping just because there isn't aftermarket support. For engine management, I believe a while back I looked up if MegaSquirt made a plug and play kit and they actually do! For injector flow/ fuel pump etc you will likely have to upgrade everything there. Let's say hypothetically you get all this together, tuned and everything. That auto trans will not last very long. So why do people recommend the 4.0 swap? Its bolt in. Pretty simple wiring. Reliable power.
