I dont like roof mounted light bars because low hanging branches on the trail tear em off. Ive got a few deep gouges in my roof to prove that. A roof rack would be alright, free up some space in the bed too. either way if you guys need some fab help lemme know.

old mohome hide-a-bed ---> roof rack for explorer..

hey guys, was just cruising through the forums, (have an explorer xlt 93 4x4, auto..new to me..weekend warrior project), and saw you guys yammin about roof racks and home makin them.. do it, so worth iot and super easy.. i threw this one together after taking the hide - a - bed outta my mohome down to the metal. Just use .035 flux core with a tiny little 11o toy welder, give it a few multi passes and it is plenty tough.. here are a few pics, you can see that i took the stock platic fisher price rack they give you off, and too add to the strentgh of it, i drilled through the roof in the "gutter type things" and carriage bolted it right into the roof. (old bike innertube inbetween = super cheap 100% water proofing).. any ways here are a few pics, hit me up if you have any questions.. cheers.
