its getting cold out and i have a offey intake with 4bbl carb. on a 84 with 2.8. my b2 is cranky when its cold. i figure the air temp is causing slight carborator icing. so i am looking for a heat riser on a aircleaner. i cant seem to have luck with after market.

i was wondering if there is a 4bbl aircleaner from stock that might work and fit under the hood. i tried a truck aircleaner but it is too tall.

Probably not carburetor icing, but cold air sent to a cool engine can cause the problems you describe, possibly. Have you looked into an old Mustang air cleaner? They will fit a 4v and possibly fit underneath the hood. I run a 289 hipo style open element air cleaner with my V8, no interference.

Would the stock unit not fit? Perhaps you could fab a box to fit on the carb with a tube to a remote filter.

Yeah, I don't like those ACs like in your link. I'd look for something else as well.

I believe Spectre makes a ac that sits low for that exact reason

That being said, there are many low profile ACs. But I believe he wants one that will direct heated air to the carb as the engine warms up, ala OEM.

It doesn't have to be a 4v stock. The Ford 2100 and 2150 air cleaners have the same large opening as a 4V carb.

I have a Spectre on my 84 B2 2.8L definitely not close to the stock setup as the OEM AC box is completely gone. However, first thing on these colder mornings I go out to fire it up and it is a pain sometimes, but coming from being the owner of an 84 ford ranger with the same engine I learned they can be quite temperamental at times. With the B2 once I get it started and I keep my foot slightly on the accelerator for a few seconds I've learned to just start driving it, and within a mile or 2 its warmed up and idling just fine. Maybe try the Spectre air cleaner and then just hop in and drive it after it idles for a couple minutes.

x2 on the stock cleaner housing. Ive switched my truck back to stock from a spectre 9" cleaner for a 4bbl. I picked it up at the bone yard for 15 bux w/filter off of an older ranger. Im asuming you canned the comp so you would just have to seal the iat hole.
