So my old roommate has a 96' Explorer he's looking to sell and for <$1500ish I'm interested in it. It has the 4.0 V6, XLT, Power everything, leather seats, new battery, Fuse box, a couple other things, 2 wheel drive. The interior looks great for a 96. Its a dark forest green color, original paint, the exterior has some slight damage to the rear driver's side quarter panel.

But for the bad...it has 215,xxx on it. He's the 2nd or 3rd owner, the guy who had it before him put 175,xxx on it driving up and down the interstate for his job. He's my old roommate so I know he's not trying to pull anything over on me. So what's ya'll's opinion? Is it worth looking/Investing in for a DD? Is there anything particular I should look out for with the 96's?

Thanks for the help!

We had a '97 Ex loaded up just like that one. We loved it except for the fact that our mechanic screwed up the motor by milling the block to get a gasket to fit. We wanted to kill him, but whatever that was 5yrs ago.

Get it!

I say go for it, at least you know the previous owner and the history of the truck so there should not be any surprises

Thanks guys, I'm not interested in lifting it, that's what my BII is for. It would be the DD but I've/my family has never had an explorer. Just worried about the miles and asking if there's any common trouble spots on these kind of trucks.

Tranny is a troubled spot if it's an auto.

If I were in your position I'd be buying that truck as we type...lol
