I see a lot of people discussing 90's models, 4.0 engine swap for B2's. I have a 86 B2 and have just found an 02 Ranger that looks like a good candidate. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

That's gonna have the SOHC engine. I like them... most powerful engine Ford ever put in a Ranger. Early versions... up until 03... had timing chain issues and Ford updated the guides and tensionrrs. I feel the key to all of it was really proper maintenance. Keep clean oil in them... no problems.

This swap has been done... the biggest hurdles are the engine electrical... well compatiblities between old and new.

I'll see if I can find more info...

My wife is driving an 03 Ranger 2x4. Bought it new. She's got 328000 on it and still going strong. I was thinking that maybe upgrading the drive train on my 86 B2 4x4 would make me be able to keep up with traffic. Thanks for your support

Bringing home the 02 Ranger 4×4 next week. Might take me 100 years, but the process is starting
