you can make a gasket or use a very light coating of RTV... when i say light coating i mean not enough to squeeze out and flake off which could destroy the engine bearings

Gasket paper and a razor blade... hole punches if you're real fancy.

And, rebuilding a motor but using an old oil pump...? Yeah, no. Get a new one. They wear out too. And they come with new gaskets.

Factory is metal-to-metal.

if you insist on using a sealant use so little that you can actually see through
it, a very thin film

i thought factory is metal to metal but i wanted to make sure, thanks allan...actually its really easy to rebuild oil pumps from these motors. the only reason they wear out is the get grooves in the two matting surfaces where the pump itself turns. machine those grooves out and your good to go
