I have a fluctuating drain goes back and forth every 2 seconds on the meter 20ma then 160ma I pull the ignition fuse in the Power Distribution Box and it goes away. I pulled fuses today, checked relays, I am stumped. Has a anti theft alarm that is ancient but I believe I found the fuse for it too no luck.
Have a new last year 650 cca battery., new alternator. I charge it next day whammo no start.
I think it is the alarm. I pulled the fuse again I thought was for the alarm and the red light on my dash is still blinking away. And clicking? Why a light should click makes no sense. But when I pull the 60 amp ignition fuse the light stops blinking Must be it.

The PDB was the Power Door Bell option. It's a rare option

It seemed pretty far fetched... but I certainly don't know everything.

To the OP...

So you pull the main ignition fuse... the draw stops. Trouble is... that fuse cancels anything that receives key ON power and should not even be powered up while doing your draw testing. You're going to have to get closer to the subsystem that is creating the draw by pulling the subsystem fuse. Like radio... turn back up... etc... Pull them one at a time. Also anything that is not factory... is where I would start

I also don't have wiring diagrams for an 89 so I can't help with schematics.

I pulled all the fuses inside the cab no luck. I think it is the anti-theft alarm. I pulled the fuse that I thought went to the alarm a second time and armed light on the dash was still flashing. I mentioned the parasitic draw was pulsating. Today is Sunday I take a break on Sundays. I need to pull this alarm system anyways the vehicle only came with 1 key fob. Hard to believe it could drain the battery so fast. I may have to get a new battery too. Autozone tested it as good but who knows. Frustrating stuff. I pulled the relays yesterday too and checked if the draw was gone still no luck. I actually was able to disarm the alarm with the doors shut so the light quit blinking. Hoping to re-enact that scenario tomorrow with the hood open and see if the draw is gone. I bought this vehicle last april I have replaced valve cover gaskets new injectors and a zillion other things. Runs great but now it needs to start dependably. Grrrr!!!!
