Single Fuel Pump Upgrade?

Anyone with a 4.0 swap ever go to a single fuel pump system? pretty much when my intank pump went out like 6 years ago, I used a pump I had here that was good, it was a 95 Silverado pump.. it's worked fine just like that for years.

So I'm running 2 pressure pumps, pretty much. I'm having some issues with my framerail pump and instead of replacing it.. I'm wondering if I can just get rid of it since my in tank pump is a pressure pump.. the chevy only runs the one pump.

I'm not for sure yet the frame rail pump is the issue.. that's another problem. Check a different thread for that.

Just get one from a Gen 2 anything and delete the other.

That's me too just got a early 90's Ranger pump I think it was.Considering cost I would try the one thats in there.Probably work to look up Chevy fuel specs so you know it has enough pressure.

The silverado runs same pressure as the 4.0 I think.. I think I'll try it. Going back to driving the Ex till I get time.

I was def wrong.... the max pressure on that pump is 17... so it won't work for a pressure pump. Dang. Guess I was thinking wrong.

Just get the intank pump and lines from a gen1 explorer.

Yeah, Idk what I'm gonna do for sure now that I figured out my in tank pump ain't strong enough. I didn't want to go modding the entire fuel line setup. I was just thinking of changing where the frame pump is.

Guess I'll just get another frame pump if it comes down to it.. it's worked for years like that.

im in the middle of my 4.0 swap and am going thru the same thing. mine is an 84, so i am changing all the lines. the lines from the explorer are a little short, and the explorer pump doesnt fit in a B II tank without modification. i bent the tubing inside the tank to put the pump on the bottom of the tank and bent the guage arm to be acurate at empty. the fittings for the fuel lines point toward the passenger side. i picked up a 90 B II over the weekend, and it looks like that pump will work. good luck!

i found the solution today. 90 B II pump and fuel lines from the tank to the engine. the lines arent that hard to remove, they are flexible. you may have to use the early fuel sender, i read on here somewhere that the ohm range was changed, dont remember what year. i believe the 89-90 B II pump and lines are the same. i hope this helps!
