Trans swap auto to manual help

I'm sick of auto trans problems (a4ld 'nuff said) and want to go to the m5odr1. I was looking at pictures of the 2 online wanting to make sure the bolt patterns front and back are correct, so I don't have to get a different transfer case ect... When I noticed the the starter for the m5od is on the other side.

My questions here are
1.Do I need to do any mods to anything like down pipes or oil pan swap or anything of the like?
2.Any kind of electrical splicing/swapping?

Also I'm guessing I'll need to get a different starter.

So if anyone can point me to a good wright up on the project it would be much help.
