My Broncoii is a 4x4 standard with manual hubs. The owners manual states putting transfer case in neutral and transmission in neutral to tow. But, I plan to flat tow my rig to SW New Mexico from NW Montana, mileage approx. 1400 miles portal to portal. Has anyone had experience with such and can you elaborate. Of course the ignition will be turned to unlock column for trip. Plan to employ magnetic clamp on lights on fill with needs for trip. thanks in advance for the help. MTG

Unhook the battery turn the key on and you are ready to roll.

Hmmm, unhooking the battery with ignition on never crossed my mind. Very good information. I thought @bout renting a tow dolly. MTZg

So if its a manual transmission why would you need to put the transfer case in neutral as well?

Anyhow, nothing much to do with a manual tranny just neutral and go. Wonder how many people had dead batteries because they turned the ignition key too far past the unlock spot and had radio, dash lights, fan, etc. all running while it was being towed LOL.
