I have a 84 bronco 2 4x4 with tk 5 5 speed. I let my brother borrow it and now its stuck in reverse and 5th gear. He said he was downshifting it coming to a stop light when it did it. Can I use a transmission out of a ranger? It's my daily driver and need to know what 5 speeds can I put in it to get it on the road again.

B2s only ever came with the v6 engines, so as long as you know when the 2.9 replaced the 2.8, its easy enough to figure it out.

Check this page out in the tech library...

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/index-transmission-transfer-case.shtml

Should be able to find some useful info there.

Any tranny out of a 2.8l Ranger or Bronco II should work, the real question is whether you can get something out of a 86+ truck or not.
