will a 66 289 bolt to a 85 bronco II trans?

will it bolt up and if not what would it intail to do it? i have a 289 from a galaxie and wanted to put it in my rough truck! but dont want to break alot of stuff and a 289 isnt real powerful so thought it might work well! thanks

I don't even know why he bothered asking "manual/auto". There isn't a transmission that was installed in the B2 that WOULD bolt up to a SBF.

Besides, The trans could barely hold up with a V6 in front of it. A 289 would break it in minutes.

You need a C-5 or C-4, three speed auto, The C-5 came in BII's and are great if you have a 4x4 and are strong enough internally for the V-8 power. Some things need to be changed. Check out http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/AutoTrans.html
There are several other auto's that will work.
