Overview
While at Overland Expo Mountain West we saw the TrailRax Ford Bronco being given away. This long-traveled Overland “Swiss Army knife” is our TrailRax-equipped 2023 Bronco Badlands. Built with a Sasquatch package from the factory, it now boasts the RPG Off-Road +3″ Mid Travel kit, advanced suspension upgrades, rugged exterior enhancements, and a fully overland-capable camping setup—all built for maximum capability and comfort.
Suspension & Ride Enhancements
We installed the RPG Off-Road Mid Travel kit, widening the track by 6″ (3″ per side), bringing stability and handling closer to that of a Bronco Raptor. Included components: billet upper control arms, a billet full tie-rod kit, fabricated lower control arms, and optional RCV extended axle shafts. Up front and rear, Fox Performance Series 2.5 coil-overs with DSC adjustment drastically improved comfort, confidence, and capability—delivering aggressive off-road capability with Raptor-like confidence.
Exterior & Tire Setup
We upgraded with Advanced Fiberglass 8″ fender flares (with inner fenders) for both form and function—offering enhanced coverage against mud and debris and perfectly accommodating 37″ tires. Rolling on Method 706 bronze wheels wrapped in Falken Wildpeak R/T 37″ tires, our setup strikes a perfect balance between on-road comfort and off-road aggressiveness. Method’s Bead-Grip technology means no beadlocks while still allowing lowered tire PSI for superior handling.
Lighting
Our Bronco features Heretic Studio lighting throughout:
- Amber fog lights
- 20″ modular bumper bar (amber)
- Quattro clear combos on A-pillars
- 40″ clear LED bar on roof rack
- BA2 amber chase lights at the rear
This full-array lighting provides style and function on every trail and campsite.
Roof Rack & Overlanding Gear
Atop the Bronco, we’ve mounted our very own TrailRax Modular Roof Rack for the 4-door Bronco—complete with our patented Pak Rax system for superior weight distribution straight to the body, reducing stress on the MIC hardtop.
On top of the rack sits our collaborative Alu-Cab 3R tent mounting kit—developed with GP Factor and OK4WD—and paired with the Alu-Cab Shadow 270 awning. Inside the tent we’ve upgraded the mattress to the HEST Dually Long mattress, added the Alu-Cab adjustable backrest, the Alu-Cab drop-down table, and HEST camp pillows.
Engine & Intake
Under the hood, the 2.7L EcoBoost engine delivers robust power across all RPMs—critical for hauling heavy gear and maintaining performance. We’ve also added a Whipple supercharger replacement air filter that’s easier to clean and ensures better airflow. Always keeping a spare on board for dusty conditions.
Interior & Storage
Inside, a 67 Designs dash mount holds the driver’s phone (for a pseudo heads-up display), plus a radio faceplate and Mag mic holder for hands-free communication.
In the rear, we’ve implemented a Goose Gear “seat delete” with drawer system—great for storage, weight savings, and organization. It houses tools, spare parts, air compressor, and fuses neatly. Above, the Blue Ridge Overland Bronco attic is perfect for stashing light outerwear like jackets and rain gear.
Auxiliary Power Setup
Our auxiliary power setup includes four daisy-chained Dakota Lithium 14 Ah batteries, charging via a REDARC 25 A BCDC charger connected to the vehicle’s battery. All of this sits cleanly behind a Goose Gear base plate hosting the drawer system.
Final Takeaway
This Bronco Badlands build embodies balance: aggressive off-road performance paired with comfortable, reliable overland functionality. Whether navigating Moab trails or enjoying scenic campsites, it delivers—while averaging 16–17 MPG on Utah highways (65–80 MPH speeds).

Welcome to the Bronco Corral. As a long time Ford Truck enthusiast, I've been a fan of the Ford Bronco and Bronco II. In fact, I've completely rebuilt a Bronco II of my own. The Bronco Corral originally started as the Bronco II Corral, but in 2020 I decided to expand it to include all Ford Bronco's, and welcome the upcoming 2021 Ford Bronco. Thanks for stopping.
