    Wiring Guru Needed...

Power coming out of the brake light switch goes to the turn signal switch then, to the tail light housings. Each turn signal wire does double duty a brake light as well. I would say it is probably the left turn signal wire shorted either behind the gas tank or some cobbled trailer light wiring.

    Flowmaster 40s or Thrush Welded?

I installed the Thrush Welded on a fullsize. Within a few weeks they started rattling on the inside. I bought another set and sent the first set back. They refused to warranty them. the second set started rattling about a month later. I put on a pair of Excelerator weldeds on, about $25 a piece...

    5.0 motor questions

Remember, The HO and the 302(SO) use two different firing orders. If you use that cam and it is an HO cam, you will have to use the HO firing order. I prefer the 351 firing order (HO).

    5.0 motor questions

Your BII comes from the factory wired for an alternator and starter, None of that needs to change just because you are putting in a different motor. You would only be making things harder for yourself. You could even keep the factory gauges if you wanted, easy compared to the alternative. The...

    5.0 motor questions

The proform is basically the same thing, just cheaper. DUI did it first. Also, It is a chevy HEI. If any part were to fail, You can buy a part that will replace it at ANY parts store. The chevy replacement parts just aren't as good.

    5.0 motor questions

No, the DUI isn't cheap But, It is easy. When I did my 351 I just plugged in the duraspark harness. The '84 Ranger came wired for it. I also have a bunch of harnesses and boxes laying around. Someone trying to find all the parts to wire in a duraspark system would be hard pressed to find the...

foxbody mustang on bronco II frame

Thanks Shran. I just need to not get carried away. I need to be careful on what I reply to. Jim is a really good guy, I owe him a favor or two. I'm also really glad to see the changes that have been happening.

DUI (Davis unified ignition). It is a GM HEI based ignition system that is made to fit a 302. All you need is ignition power. A lot of people don't like the idea of a chevy distributor on their Ford though.

foxbody mustang on bronco II frame

My 4wd car is not on a Truck chassis. The uni-body is heavily reinforced. You can see in that Mustang pic that the Mustang doesn't fit the BII chassis well at all. I did start a 4x4 Taurus a while ago that is on a full size Bronco frame. It fits the frame really well. Most of the contours...

What is this pipe that connects the two heads?

Thanks Mac. Now that I think back, I bought the wrong size bolts and tap. I now have a 9/16 tap that I will never use. I bought 3 short, 5/8 NC bolts, Cut a notch into one with a hacksaw, Ran it in and out until the threads were clean enough that the bolts would go in.

What is this pipe that connects the two heads?

It is not EGR. It is an A.I.R. tube. There is an air pump that injects air into the exhaust ports, there are passages into each port from there. most people plug the holes. The holes are threaded, 9/16 nc I believe. The threads will be filled with carbon. You need to tap the holes first.

    Prerunner or Rock crawler

I've got a good example of when cut and turn is better than drop brackets. The sand spray is from my drop brackets biting into the sand in compression. I want to go with shorter brackets and a small cut and turn. I'm not a fan of the short wheel base, I've driven them offroad and I don't like...

    Heater core keeps stopping up......

It sounds to me like someone put Bars leak in the motor before you got it. I had the same problem. I put in a new heater core, after flushing several times, and the new core plugged in about a week. Your best bet would be to pull the core plugs while you are doing a back flush. Just a flush will...

    New poster looking for opinions...

I would have to agree, if the motor runs good, the cylinders are probably in good shape, Maybe run a leakdown or just a simple compression test to help you make your decision. I would run a compression test and if all cylinders were 120 or more, I would just fix the motor.

I agree with you there. Although I have a v-8 Ranger, I prefer my 3.0. It airs out really nice. The v-8 truck is really nose heavy. You would have to build a custom T5, front half Ford, back half chevy. Then use the s10 transfer case.

    New poster looking for opinions...

Well, I wouldn't mess with the 2.8 if it were me. I ran one and it sold me on Rangers, I've had one ever since. The 2.8 is an ok motor at best. It would be cheaper to install a used 302 than to fix the 2.8. It has been done MANY times and all the tech is right here on TRS. A 4.0 is also an...
