It will be interesting to see how much potential is there with tuning and boost.
let me just remind everyone ^^the same can be said for a gas engine

For ecomony diesels respond to it better DIY though.

Most people can't build an Ecoboost in their garage, installing a turbo and putting more fuel it with a diesel is a little easier. Diesels are more expensive to work on though (like go through a pump, injectors...)

I will let my own truck say what my preferances are, I do enjoy seeing what others can do with different things though.

from what I read ford can't even build one... :icon_rofl:
Farmers love them. I have one guy that comes in, he pulls both his fifth wheel camper and his bass boat (at the same time) with his. He loves the milage running around empty and that it isn't helpless if he needs it as a truck.

My little brother is a Sr Master Tech at the local dealer, they haven't had any real problems with them. They are the most popular F-150 engine they sell.

I am adapting it to the m5od-r1 and adding a Garett gt1544 turbo and intercooler. Not looking for setting any speed records. It has been put in many rangers and s10's with pleasing results. There is even a sweet twin turbo jeep wrangler with a v2203 in it. I already have the engine and new oil pan, the adapter is next.

I don't know how you are adapting it but the 97+ F-150 M5OD has the shifter in a similar spot as compared to the Ranger M5OD rather than up under the dash. It is probably a little heavier duty for your 4cyl diesel than a Ranger M5OD.

If you are going to a SBF boltpattern the 4.2 is the same but with smaller holes so you just have to drill them out (or make your adaptor the same). If you are just making a plate it seems 4.6's were more popular with 4x4.

I considered getting the R2, but buying another tranny and transfer case would drive the budget up. The R1 has already been used with the Kubota with no issues. Granted the R2 is a stronger tranny, right know the mission is to get the diesel in the B2...

New wheel bearings, seals, parking brake cables, and brakes. It was pretty darn cold today, but it had to be done...

Still happy with the diesel? I have toyed with the idea but knowledge base leans more to gas so a little intimidated I guess. Many of the benefits appeal to me

The old drive shaft finally gave out after 170k miles of service... The new one is much better, balanced, u-joints, grease fittings, need I say more.

Added a led flood light and changed the front brakes and rotors.
