I am looking at a 1986 Bronco II that has a crank, fire, but not starting problem.

Any ideas what it could possibly be?

How much do you think it would cost to fix?

From 0$ to 10 000$.....:) Need more clues. Do you ear the fuel pump.(check the reset for the fuel pump), is starting with putting staarting fluid into the intake.etc.

I don't know if the fuel pump is working or not.....the truck is in Dayton, OH and I am 3 hours away.......

Is the fuel pumpmthe most common problem?

the cheapest and easiest to fix problem with our trucks is the relays, they like to take a shit, thats how i got mine for $250 when the previous owners "mechanic" told her it needed a new fuel pump and the pump's (becuase he would have to replace both) and installation would be 1300.....lol, sometimes i love dumbasses

The inertia switch?
Passenger side floor, just to the right of the tranny tunnel, may be somewhat covered up by carpet

just an update....

- fuel pump works
- new pressure regulator installed
- fuel reset switch hasn't been tripped

could the PCM or fuel reset switch be bad? how do you check the fuel reset switch?

to check if the inerita switch is bad...unplug...just use a short jumber wire on the wire harness to each wire spade. IF it starts...its bad!

SOOO if it doesn't start and you're confident that fuel is present...you maybe/probably missing spark??

1st thing most look into is the ignition module,(aka TFI). and it can control both fuel and spark. Located on the back of the distrib.

IF spark is present...then it maybe a fuel relay ...on the inside of passanger fender.

pump wouldnt come on if the fuel pump relay was bad, in may be the PCM relay alswell, the aftermarkets are the same relay if im not mistaken, sometimes when i have problems i switch them around and it runs fine. i learned this from my first ranger when i was 17

same location as the fuel relay....IF...still factory units they will/should be color coded...green....brown and gray

that is.... if someone hasn't relocated them or some of them and or replaced with aftermarket.
