Ok, so I have an '86 B2. The Bronco needs a clutch and transmission swap. Although the motor runs well. I think it's most likely, that I will end up spending $1000 to $1300 on the new parts. Right? I found a 1994 explorer 4x4 4.0L 5 speed for sell. It has a new clutch, valve stem seals, new head and intake gaskets. The most I will have to pay for the explorer is $1500.

My question is, would you folks think it's worth it to go through the swap? The ex seems to be one of those that you might not want to mess up. I was thinking it might be a good first vehicle for one of the kids.

Thought I would add to the debate.

This is the Bronco as it stands now.

This is the explorer

I think keep em both, and fix the bronco anyway. :icon_bounceblue:

I'd probably keep lookin for a donor. Its hard to tear apart a decent lookin truck for parts, unless it has title problems or body damage.

That donor looks fine to me. The nicer the better I always say. I've sent many an RBV to the junkyard, sometimes I feel bad, but it is rare.

1500 is kind of a lot for a donor, usually you can get them for half that. The only issue you will run into is the wiring, you'll have to do some splicing here and there. However, since you'll have the whole donor, you could just swap the dash as well...

I was thinking along the lines of a complete swap, dash and all.
