okay so i have a stock suspension on my 1989 B2 fm 146 trans and orig elect shift trans case

the 89 originally came with a CV style rear the original has since blown and been replaced with a professionally rebuilt unit and it just failed. this one lasted me a yr.
so i hate the CV STYLE!!!

SO i found a universal joint type driveshaft with a slip joint a week ago on a older i think 86-84 B2 with a auto trans and man tcase it has the same flanges

So IS THERE DIFFERENT REAR DRIVESHAFT LENGTHS FOR THE 4x4 B2????????

so going to junk yard after i get out of work tom ( if it will work) and i hope that shaft is still there

THE 4.0 JUST HAS TOO MUCH POWER!!!!
that little CV joint didnt stand a chance

If the donor has an A4LD transmission it will work. A C-3 or C5 may not, I don't think they are the same length. But the A4LD and the FM146 are and the driveshafts can be swapped.

I think the A4LD was introduced in 86 along with the 2.9. I'm not sure if the C series ever came behind a 2.9 from, factory, but there is a great article in the TRS tech library about transmissions.

right on thanks, Adam!

So i got to the junkyard after work yesterday 10 mins to close

and once i got a closer look at the shaft i had spotted i found out that it is a custom fit shaft and its very nicely made and very heavy duty, with greaseable u-joints.

so junk yard score @ 35$ , feels great to get lucky for once :D
