Nope, plate should go about 90% of the way around, open at the top.

Here is a pic of two complete ones out of the vehicle:

Make sure you put that back in when you put the trans in. It locates the starter and you will have issues without it.

Junkyard I s'pose... (or maybe someplace like LMC Truck might have one?)

The Ford book calls it a "Separator plate". I've heard others call it a "Block plate" or "block off plate".

What is wrong with yours? (I wouldn't think these are something that normally goes bad)

Well I've had starter problems since I got my truck the plates all bent up and there's a notch cut out where one of the starter bolts go. Right now.my truck wone even start because my starters grinded so much and my flywheels ground down along with the starter gear.

Ahhh... Yeah I s'pose that would call for a new one lol.

Yeah, I'd try the junkyards first. I think a 4.0L M5OD plate will work too IF you've also done the 4.0L clutch swap (4.0L starter hole is a little bigger).

Need new flywheel, new starter, trans is out... Looks like a perfect time to me to do the clutch swap. :D
