whats an engine?
Went up to the high country around loon lake for a couple of days.
Check out the gatekeeper at the Rubicon and walked in about a mile. Weather was absolutly perfect. No snow. Cold lake. Stayed over night at the lake. WOW!! Only about 3 other campers there and very peaceful.
saw a guy that had rolled over his toyota about a mile in.
And talked to a guy with a jeep that broke his drive shaft about 500 feet in :icon_rofl:
this pic is a mile into the Rubicon and the north end of the lake. there was a patch of snow by the lake but not on the trail.

Gatekeeper? Did they build a new one?
(guessing so if someone broke 500 feet in :icon_rofl: )

I was up there last summer and they had turned it into a "paved" road (figuratively speaking) .
Definitely some beautiful country though, no doubt. There's a lot more like it up on the Dusy/Ershim Lake trail too, which is one of my favorites.

ya, its pretty accessable compared to what it used to be, I guess. But not to my rig
I understand the FS is doing some work on the trail. but plan to move some bigger stuff back where it used to be when they finish their projects. there is a good thread on it on PBB.

Yeah I had been watching it for awhile, though I haven't checked it lately (guessing it's probably up to 80+ pages now maybe?)

The Rubicon is a fun trail. I think we did it back in 06 with a bunch of guys from BroncoII.org. I had no issues with 32's and rear locker.

However, I agree with Junkie, I liked the Dusy much better! Very similar terrain, less people and much cleaner. One of these days I will have to make it back up there.
