I have an 86 BII and I've left the lights on twice recently. It doesn't buzz or ding like it should if the door is open. It does when I have the key in though. The dome light does work.

Is this an option? If so how hard is it to install?

Where is the buzzer? Does the same one do the key and the headlights?

Any ideal on where to begin to fix this?

My '84 is very basic. Doesn't have AC even, and the dome light only comes on for the driver, the list of options is very short. I'll check it, but I do believe that it has the lights-on buzzer. I'm pretty sure, but last week I left mine on when I got to work and it made me wonder then.. I'll look tonight and let you know.

Checked my BII. It does not have a lights-on buzzer. One is easy enough to put in place though.

Go to Radio Shack and get a itty bitty 12v buzzer (1/2" x 1/4"). Get under there with your fuse panel, put the positive wire (red) on the fuse that is hot when the headlights are on. Then find a fuse that is hot only when the key is on and put your negative (blk) wire on it.
Your circuit will work only when you have the headlights on and the ignition off. Get a small piece of dbl sided foam sticky tape and put the buzzer where you like.

The only annoyance with the above is that most vehicles' headlights and parking lights are the same circuit. If you like to park with the ignition off and the parking lights on, you'll have an annoying little buzzer yelling at you.

It's behind the glove box liner on the left side of its the hole in the dash.

Cool Earl.. I like that. Some that I have gotten in the past have the diode already as part of the buzzer.
