I know they still put them under the carpets because I just found one this summer on a 2011. The H-valve for the A/C gave out and we could only get it with a new condenser (parts availability issues) so I had the whole interior of the truck out. Found it when I pulled up the carpet to reposition the floor ducts.I know in older vehicles they would put the in the bottom of the seat. I highly doubt that they do that anymore though. There used to contact info floating around the net for a department at Ford which would provide them for a small fee. Never bothered remembering or bookmarking it though, because IMO they are really only useful for restoration purposes. I don't intend to leave anything I build stock so I don't care about what it came with from the factory.
