"My B2 quit starting and running. I put a new distributor in it thinking, the pick up coil was baked. It's not getting any spark. At further investigation, the CPU was from a, 3.0, Taurus or Sable. I need a new CPU from, an "87 or ''88 B2 or Ranger with a, 2.9l with automatic transmission. CPU numbers are:
EFTF12A650BH1A or
EFTF12A650BH2A.
I need one, now! Please.

I'll have time to go get one on Saturday. But if it was running before with the Taurus computer, I doubt that is the root cause of the problem. Especially when you consider that on your system the PCM does pretty much nothing with the spark system.

Did you replace the TFI module?

"No Spark."

Sound Man,
I'm about to put in a new, ignition coil and I plan on test starting, my B2 w/ that 3.0l Taurus/Sable CPU.
JHammel was nice enough to offer me a, 2.9l w/AT CPU for $20 and postage. He also has, a, reman. stock compu w/jet chip. My coservativeness says go with the all stock.
I did have a, slightly fried, TFI and a spare which registers right around 6 ohms. My distributor's new and the old one was factory, The pick up coil was well worn.
I'll be in touch.
Thanks. You were the first responder.

I have a good '88 auto computer. It's not entirely interchangeable with an '87, but it will get rid of the EGR.

EDIT: I am also tearing apart an '88 truck if you need anything.

check your wires on the coil thats on the driver inner fender. the green wire looses connection and will allow it now to start.
