passenger stub axle u joint replacement dana 28

Can anyone tell me if I can use a ujoint press to change the ujoint on my innner stub axle Bronco 2 with dana 28 or am gonna have to drop the pumpkin to get at the c-clip? or any other solutions or tips

I've heard of people doing it, can't hurt to get under there and try.

Worse case you'll just have to pull off the diff which (assuming you already got everything else apart already) isn't all that much more work... just messy is all, need something to catch the gear oil when you break the diff seal to the beam.

so to change u-joints you have to take the pumpkin out??

Just to change the inner u joint on the passenger side shaft as that stub axle is held into the diff with a c clip. The drivers side is not and slides right out.
