Well a couple months back i posted about a shuddering problem my truck was having. A lot of people jumped and said it was clutch, but it ended up the clutch is just dandy :D Since then the truck has gotten new plugs, wires, coil pack, intake boot, thermostat, fuel filter, and had the intake and EGR cleaned out pretty well.

Same problem as before still exists. When the plugs were changed, the three on I believe the driver's side were nasty, three on the passenger side were relatively good. Truck is also running on the rich side of the spectrum... :icon_confused:

The odd bits:
Why foul three plugs on one bank, but not the other?
Why when the MAF is unplugged it doesn't change results?
Why when the EGR is opened at idle does my truck rev up? :icon_confused:

I will have to check into the MAF I know, but any other ideas? It's been three months and I'm bummin with out my ride... :bawling:

Before replacing the MAF, clean it up with the MAF cleaner that comes in a spray can. Also, check the connections, it might be corroded or missing part of it or something.

Another thought, with a bad MAF, what are the chances of all bank 1 plugs being fouled, but no bank 2? And compression test showed 160,160,160,160,160,165

If one bank is running rich, I'd replace that side O2 sensor.

Can't be the MAF, that would affect both banks equally.

What kind of codes are you getting? My 94 gave me some fits a couple of years ago and no matter what I did it kept it up. I would get various codes(different each time I would scan it). It ended up being the ECM. I replaced that and no more problems. Hopefully not what your looking at, but maybe a direction to look in.

I've been leaning towards ECM. If it is I will have to hope the pick a part yards around here have a salvageable one. If you pick one, what is there to look out for? Does it have to be matched up to a specific 4.0?

Yeah I had to replace mine a few years ago.
On the ECM there should be a label on it with a code and numbers. You have to match that code from a junkyard one. My 94' Explorer had two different ones that came from factory and go figure the one that was in mine was one that was hard for the junkyard to find .........but within a week they found one out west :icon_thumby:

Sorry for the late response, but work said no internet for you. My mechanic seems to believe it is a fuel injector going bad, causing the odd pulse width, and therefore causing the rough running and fouling. Plausibility?

I'm going to throw that one at my mechanic Monday! Is it possible to have that problem with no lost oil? This truck hasn't dropped a spot of oil in 3000+ miles.

I give it a +1 on a leaky intake. A leaky intake doesnt always mean oil consumption either. Sometimes but not always it will cause a very lean condition but Ive seen it be reversed. Ford and their plastic intakes. smh

Well he says one injector was dribbling fuel rather than spraying.... I'm hoping this is the last problem for a while. It is a perfectly solid 4.0, great compression, no knocks, no leaks, no ticks, but the peripherals for the engine are being "wonderful"....
