Hello to all first..I spotted an early 80's B2 for sale and was contemplating getting it and doing the usual things to it for a little mild offroading fun..first its an auto with ac and says 40k on the speedo..most likely the second time around..my main question is what are common faults with these b2's..besides the bad gas milage and being underpowered...is there anything I should look for on this vehicle before purchasing ..and lastly, what do these go for moneywise..this guy is wanting 3000 with the back seat missing..but besides that its complete down to the original wheels and very presentable except for the color..baby blue..Im going down to get another look at it Monday so any help woould be appreciated..thanks

40k on speedo? Probably 140k? I'd say price is too high look elsewhere.

Also, where are you? If you're up north I'd be leery shelling that out. I tend to...dislike rust.

I paid $2500 for a absolutely rust free, 100% complete, somewhat mechanically neglected 89 B2 w/ 200k/mi. $3000 seems a little steep, you can pick up a decent truck for $1500-$1800 around here.

I can pick them up all day for around 1000 here. There are issues. Early 80's is kinda vague. Pics would help. 84-5 are carb'd.86 -88 are fuel injected, these are the gen 1's.

Gen 2's are the 89-90. Late 90 models, built after 11/89 are the best to get because they come with a D35 and a M5OD.

I'd like an 84-5, so I could drop a v-8 in it.

3000 is steep, unless it runs like a champ.
