Looks great, scrap the rad. and keep looking.

thanks!

i was having my doubts about the radiator (its from a '92), but its bigger than the radiators in the 60's v8 mustangs, and its in really good shape.

Gung-ho

Great read and documentation of your work. Great project. Really good info on my own designs. Puttin a 351W into my 87 ranger extra cab and learning exery step of the way. The info on the front end removal was great. Thanks for the great thread and inspiration::icon_cheers:

Finally got around to working on the BII again. Pulled the motor out for (hopefully) the last time. Need to fine-tune the motor mount holes and install the clutch. I really think the factory early bronco pan will work, so I bolted it back on.

Noticed the flywheel has few chipped teeth. Is this a big problem? Or can I run it and be ok?

I'd change it also, or you might have to pull it again later when you don't want to.

well, i actually don't know exactly what to get.

i looked at some online through jegs. cheapest was $250. ouch! the whole motor/trans/aa adapter/t-case cost only a little over twice that.

Change it now. If your luck is like mine, that's the spot the starter will hit every time.

you can take that flywheel to a machine shop and have them flip the ring gear. theyll heat it in the oven for 30 mins or so at 400* and then pull it off and let the flywheel cool while leaving the ring gear in the oven. once the flywheel is cooled to the touch you pull the ring gear out of the oven and it drops right on.

correct. although i have a friend that wants to sell me a complete fw 44/9inch combo....

not much progress. still trying to decide what i am going to do about the flywheel/balancer thing. I want to switch over to serpentine accessories, but I'm still not sure what all i have to switch.

You need the front FEAD from a V8 explorer, mustang, crown vic/grand marquis, or cougar/thunderbird, as well as the water pump from the same FEAD donor...

excellent build thread... was wondering if you could post your invoice or the model #'s of the stuff your ordered from James Duff as I cant find half of it on their website :p

The only reason I have never done a D44 SAS is because of the track bar mount after reading this im going for it.

Glad I could be of inspiration :icon_thumby:

Part #'s and prices when I ordered (Oct. 2010)

5352 - SAS Bronco 2/Ranger/Explorer Radius Arms. - $699
5261B - Dual shock SAS coil buckets. - $249
5109 - Early Bronco/SAS 5.5" coil springs. - $170
5341 - Radius Arm C-caps. - $85
5120 - HD Lower Coil Retainer. - $75

They are currently working on a bolt on track bar mount, but I don't think it is available yet. I think mine will work just fine

Today was a nice day, so I spent some time tearing apart whats left of the rigs that are going to the scrapper. Had to do something to my BII, so I threw on the belltech 6400 shackles I'd had sitting on the workbench for awhile

besides a "keeper" on one of the stock bolts breaking off, everything went relatively smoothly

*Take Note* the bolts on an 84 are thicker than later years. same size bolt and nut, but the shaft is thicker. just enough to not fit in the belltechs.

So I grabbed some bolts out of some later springs (that also still had the "keepers" on the nuts)
'84 on left, '87 on right

over a month later, and all i've done is put the trans back on the motor with the new throwout bearing. lost 2 bellhousing bolts somewhere along the line, so now i have to make a run to the local farm supply for new ones before i throw the motor back in.

oh yeah, did i mention that an np435 is a freakin tank compared to a tk4? dang that thing is heavy.
