if i was you, i would seriously look around for extended ttb parts, or if you or a friend has any welding experience do the research, buy some jy arms and extend those f*ckers and reenforce them like hell,:icon_welder: then run some 8.5 soft Cherokee sport springs, or 6.5’s.. i mean since its not going to be doing 70mph down the freeway. those ttb are extremely strong and parts galore

they're not extremely strong by any means. especially if its got a dana 28. a dana 35 is a lot stronger, but not super strong. I run mine with 35" tires as well, and I haven't really run ito that many problems if you know its limits. you can definitely disconnect the sway bars, but its not any fun on the road without them.

Times 4, kajillion on the sway bar on the road thing. A Cherokee can do well without them ( I REALLY miss my old 88), but, my 84 BII, is WAY too wobbly with even the rear one disco'd on the black top at anything above about 30MPH. Oh, and welcome to the not quite so dark side...

Check out my build thread for some Ideas on the TTB suspension. For light to medium wheeling the Dana35 TTB will hold it's own with the right mix of parts.

I think what people were saying is if you are on pavement regularly is to KEEP the sway bar. This is true especially if you have put in longer, lighter ppi springs, and extended the rad arms. tho there are others that will say no problems without. There are some good articles on TTB suspension written by 4x4junkie, do a search.
Good luck,

Richard

I had to put my sway bar back on the front for driveability. I ended up using heim joints for the links. Worked out amazing as far as I can tell (altho I havent driven it yet...) Lol

Swap your D28 for a D35, make sure your steering linkage angles are correct (this is very important if you have a suspension lift), and ditch the swaybars. You should be fine.

The D35 TTB has the same u-joints as the D44 under F-150s and is very close to it in strength.

With 35" tires I'd also suggest ditching the smallish 7.5" rear axle for the 8.8" from an Explorer:

Hope that helps. And welcome to TRS
